About HTC

HTC

Founded in 1997 by Cher Wang, Chairwoman, and Peter Chou, President and CEO, HTC is a Taiwan-based company making its name  behind many of the most popular operator-branded smartphones devices with Android and Windows operating systems for themselves and as an OEM to other manufacturers.

The company initially made smartphones based primarily on Microsoft's Windows Mobile software, but in 2009 it began to shift its core focus away from Windows Mobile devices to devices based on the Android operating system and in 2010 to Windows Phone operating system.

HTC has invested strongly in research and development, which accounts for a quarter of its employees.  HTC is also a member of the Open Handset Alliance, a group of handset manufacturers and mobile network operators dedicated to the advancement of the Android mobile device platform. The HTC Dream, marketed by T-Mobile in many countries as the T-Mobile G1, was the first phone to the market that used the Android mobile device platform.

Since launching its own brand in late 2006, the company has introduced dozens of HTC-branded products around the world.
